New this summer, The City is excited to pilot the V.I.P. (Vendors in Parks) Pop-up program. To help support local business and our economy while enhancing your enjoyment of Calgary’s parks, we’re activating City green spaces with this trial program hosting a variety of pop-up vendors setup in one of four designated Calgary Parks sites.

Types of Vendors:

  • Retail – clothing, arts, crafts, jewelry etc.
  • Food (Pre-packaged/pre-prepared recommended, No power or water - AHS Permit(s) Required)
  • Entertainment

Unacceptable items include alcohol/marijuana, any political and religious promotion, any sexually explicit items. The City reserves the right to decline any vendor.

Vendors performing Personal Services must complete the following form: Temporary Personal Services (Vendor) Notification (albertahealthservices.ca)

They will be available Friday, Saturday and Sunday through the summer from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. We will provide the tents in high traffic areas, and you bring the rest. Up to two vendors may be placed in each tent.

If unable to input all the requested hours above, please attach a list of all requested dates for the 2022 season.

Application Deadline

To apply, interested vendors must submit the application form and bookings will be on a first come, first serve until the end of September. Cut off for applications will be the Tuesday at Noon for the coming weekend.

Cancellation Deadline:

All vendors must notify The City at CPI@Calgary.ca the Tuesday at noon before their scheduled booking to cancel.

FEES (Vendors must pay all fees in advance):

$65 per day
$175 for the weekend (Friday to Sunday)
In the case of inclement weather, vendors can rebook for another time.

The City will invoice the vendor and fees can be paid by cheque or through online banking.

    Pop-Up Vendor Description

    Please describe the products and goods that will be sold at your Pop-Up shop. Be as specific as possible. (e.g., food, clothing, jewelry, etc.). If you have photos of your product, please upload those. 

      Pop-Up Vendors General Terms & Conditions

      1. Bookings will be available from 11am - 7pm. The Vendor(s) agree to vacate the park by 7:30 pm.

      2. The Vendor(s) must stay within the defined 10 x 10 tent area.  Up to two vendors may be placed in each tent.

      3. These conditions, instructions and specifications refer to the operation of a Pop-Up Vendor Program (“Program”) on lands owned by The City of Calgary, Alberta for the 2022 season.

      4. The Vendor(s) are responsible for obtaining and paying for all required Federal, Provincial and Municipal permits and licenses.

      5. The Vendor(s) is solely responsible for all personal property, including vehicles, unless it is determined that the damage is due to the gross negligence of The City, its Employees, Officers or Agents.

      6. Under no circumstances will any controlled substances, alcohol, smoking or vaporizing products, or marijuana products (including edibles) be available from the vendor(s).

      7. No permanent structures or fixtures will be permitted.

      8. The vendor(s) will be permitted vehicle access in parking log for loading and unloading only. Vehicles must be parked in designated public parking zones during selling hours. Driving on turf is prohibited.

      9. The Vendor(s) shall be responsible for replacement/repair cost of any damage caused by Vendor(s), Employee(s) or Agent(s) to park fixtures or facilities including irrigation equipment and turf.

      10. The Vendor(s) shall indemnify and save harmless The City from and against all claims, losses, costs, damages, suits, proceedings or actions arising out of or related to the Vendor(s)’ operating the Shop at the activities in executing the application, including any omissions, improper acts or delays.

      11. The Vendor(s) shall maintain a minimum of two Million Dollars ($2,000,000.00), inclusive liability insurance for the entire Event and shall provide to The City on or before their first day of operating at a City-owned location. a. The Vendor(s) must name, as insured, The City as their respective interest may appear.

      12. The Vendor(s) shall comply with all regulations as determined by the Occupational Health & Safety Act and any other safety regulations as determined by The City.

      13. All advertising done by the Vendor(s) that references The City shall first be approved in writing by The City. The Vendor(s) will represent The City in a positive manner.

      14. The Vendor(s) are responsible for providing all equipment required for the operation of their site, including tables, garbage cans, and power sources (no electricity will be available).

      15. Failure to provide documents listed below before the first day of operating on City-owned property will result in cancellation of this application.

      Safety

      1. The Vendor(s) must not impede pedestrian traffic on the path and must stay within their designated location.

      2. Mitigate noise hazards such as generators and music.

      Note Soliciting products to people using the park is prohibited. Solicit is defined as attempting to persuade (a person) to purchase something

      1)      A copy of the Vendor(s) certificate of insurance naming the City as insured. The policy must be effective for all booked dates.

      2)      If selling food, a Alberta Health Services Food Handling Permit.

      3)      If employing staff, a copy of WCB Clearance Letter.
